Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Is Over, CD Projekt Confirms
CD Projekt says it has no plans for new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC or expansions, despite fans continuing to ask for more content. Any return to Night City will likely come through Cyberpunk 2, which may not arrive until around 2030.
Cyberpunk 2077 is unlikely to receive any new expansions.
Developer CD Projekt confirmed on social media that it has no plans for additional DLC for the RPG, shutting down speculation about surprise updates.
The response came after a fan asked the official Cyberpunk account when the game would receive a “secret new DLC.”
CD Projekt’s reply was direct:
“We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all.”
Fans still want more Night City
The response disappointed many players.
Despite launching in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 still has an active player base following major updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Some fans hoped CD Projekt might continue supporting the game with smaller story expansions.
Online reactions reflected that frustration.
Many players joked about the long wait for the next Cyberpunk game, while others pleaded for “just one more expansion.”
The real next Cyberpunk release
If CD Projekt sticks to its current plans, the next major Cyberpunk project will be Cyberpunk 2.
That sequel is already in development, but it remains years away.
CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has previously suggested the game could arrive around 2030 or later.
That means the next visit to Night City may still be five years away or more.
Meanwhile, The Witcher may get new content
Interestingly, the studio’s denial comes at the same time as rumors of new DLC for The Witcher 3.
Reports suggest the decade-old RPG could receive a new story add-on later this year, possibly featuring a new desert-style region inspired by Dune.
CD Projekt has not officially confirmed that project.
If true, it would mean The Witcher 3 receives new content more than ten years after its original release.
CD Projekt’s packed roadmap
The studio is currently working on several large projects.
The biggest is The Witcher 4, which is now in full production.
CD Projekt has cautioned that the game likely won’t launch before 2027.
The company’s long-term plan reportedly includes:
- The Witcher 4
- The Witcher 5
- The Witcher 6
All part of a multi-game Witcher saga planned over the next several years.
Cyberpunk 2 is also in development alongside those projects.
What we think
CD Projekt is making a strategic decision here.
Continuing to release DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 would keep players engaged, but it would also keep the studio tied to a game that already required years of post-launch fixes.
At some point, development resources need to move forward.
Still, the situation is a bit ironic.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in rough shape in 2020, but after updates and Phantom Liberty, it eventually became one of the most respected RPGs of its generation.
That turnaround left many players wanting more time in Night City.
If CD Projekt truly moves on now, the wait for Cyberpunk 2 could feel long — especially if the sequel really doesn’t arrive until 2030 or later.
For fans of the series, that means the next few years will likely belong to The Witcher, not Cyberpunk.
