Age of Mythology: Retold Adds Aztec Gods in New DLC
Age of Mythology: Retold gets its Aztec pantheon in the Obsidian Mirror DLC, adding new gods, a 12-mission campaign, and Tonalli-based mechanics.
Aztec gods enter Retold
Age of Mythology: Retold just added its new Obsidian Mirror DLC, and it is available now across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The expansion brings the long-requested Aztec Pantheon into the game, along with a fresh campaign, new units, and mechanics built around Fear, Illusion, and a life-force system called Tonalli.
New gods, new battlefield tricks
World’s Edge says Tonalli is the core of the Aztec faction’s economy and divine power. Fallen warriors generate energy that can be turned into Favor, while even villagers can be sacrificed for a bigger boost.
That system feeds into a more aggressive playstyle, with players able to set traps, influence enemy movement, harvest life force, and even build towers from defeated foes.
- 3 Major Gods
- 9 Minor Gods
- 12 campaign missions
- New units and monsters
- New God Powers
- New relics, cheat codes, and achievements
Aztlan falls, war spreads
The new 12-mission story follows a divine conflict after the destruction of Aztlan. The rivalry between Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca kicks off a larger struggle, while Huitzilopochtli leads his people south to build a new empire.
Tezcatlipoca, meanwhile, escapes through the Obsidian Mirror and begins gathering allies across continents, setting up a campaign centered on survival, power, and fractured loyalties.
Biggest post-launch update
for Age of Mythology: Retold, this is one of the game’s biggest post-launch content drops yet, and it gives Microsoft’s remake a major new mythology set to build around.
