Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake rumored for July 2026

Black Flag remake dated

Ubisoft is reportedly launching Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced on July 9, 2026, according to Insider Gaming.

The game was apparently set to be announced on April 16, but that reveal has now slipped to next week. Media and creators were still shown a roughly 30-minute presentation.

Not an RPG

The biggest clarification from that presentation is about the remake’s direction. Despite months of chatter, this version of Black Flag is said to stay a solo, character-driven adventure, not an RPG.

Ubisoft has spent years pushing the series deeper into RPG systems, so this is a depart from that direction. With that it stays closer to the 2013 original than another Origins-style reinvention.

Reworked beyond a remaster

The report says the game has been completely reworked and includes new content and broader updates.

Ubisoft has not publicly confirmed the title, release date, or the presentation details. Until the official reveal happens, the launch timing and feature set should be treated as unconfirmed.

Popular entry in the series

Black Flag remains one of the franchise’s most popular entries, and it has long been viewed as the easiest candidate for a modern remake. A faithful but expanded return could give Ubisoft a win during it's troubled times.
