Fable Cutscenes Made with Blizzard's Help
Xbox says Blizzard's cinematics team is helping shape Fable's story scenes as Microsoft studios share talent across major projects.
Blizzard helps out with Fable cutscenes
Fable is getting help from Blizzard’s cinematics team, according to Xbox content chief Matt Booty, giving the reboot one of the industry’s top in-house CG groups for its story scenes.
Booty shared the detail on the Official Xbox Podcast while describing how Microsoft’s studios are increasingly swapping tech, tools, and specialist teams across the company.
Xbox studios are cross-pollinating
The Fable reveal is part of a broader pattern inside Xbox after years of acquisitions brought teams like Blizzard, Activision, and Bethesda under one roof.
- The Coalition is helping inXile with Unreal Engine work on Clockwork Revolution.
- Compulsion Games is using the Activision mo-cap studio.
- Rare is sharing multiplayer know-how with Double Fine on Kiln.
- Blizzard’s cinematics specialists are supporting Fable.
Blizzard’s pre-rendered work has a long reputation for greatness, from Diablo to World of Warcraft. If Fable’s final cutscenes match that level, the reboot could end up with a much more polished story presentation than previous parts and other RPGs.
Launch timing still looks shaky
Fable is still scheduled for Autumn 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. But a recent rumor claims Microsoft could push it to 2027 to avoid getting buried by Grand Theft Auto 6. That delay talk remains of course unconfirmed.
