EA reveals Battlefield 6 reset with huge maps in 2026
EA says Battlefield 6 will get a major 2026 reset with bigger maps, naval combat, and classic features as the studio tries to win players back.
EA maps out Battlefield 6 reset
Battlefield 6 is getting a major 2026 overhaul, with EA and Battlefield Studios promising bigger maps, classic features, and the return of naval combat as they try to win back frustrated players.
The shift comes after complaints about thin content and falling player numbers. Executive producer Ryan McArthur said the team is now focused on getting core systems right, even if that means shipping updates more slowly.
Season 3 starts with remade favorites
Season 3 begins in May and opens with two reworked legacy maps.
- Railway to Golmud reimagines Battlefield 4's Golmud Railway in Tajikistan, with new visuals, updated combat spaces, and a map size the team says is about four times larger than current large maps.
- Cairo Bazaar brings back the close-quarters feel of Grand Bazaar, but adds limited vehicle play for more chaotic fights.
- Ranked play is also coming to Battlefield REDSEC, alongside exclusive rewards and a new solo matchmaking option.
Naval warfare returns in July
Season 4 is centered on naval warfare, one of the most requested features from longtime fans.
EA says players can expect aircraft carriers, new water vehicles, and a dynamic wave system that can even affect aiming. The season will include a new take on Wake Island plus Tsuru Reef, which is being billed as the biggest map in Battlefield 6 so far.
More core features on the way
Season 5 is still mostly under wraps, but EA says it will launch with three new maps at once. A teaser points to an industrial, oil-heavy setting.
Outside the seasonal roadmap, the studio is also working on several long-requested features:
- Persistent servers
- A full server browser
- Leaderboards
- Spectator mode
- Platoons
- Proximity chat
Less popular maps like New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields are also set for reworks, as EA leans harder into large-scale warfare and older Battlefield staples.
