Epic Games is reportedly aiming to launch a Disney extraction shooter by the end of 2026 as it expands its partnership with Disney beyond Fortnite.
Disney-themed shooter this year
Epic Games is reportedly aiming to launch a new Disney-themed extraction shooter by the end of 2026, expanding the company’s big entertainment bet beyond Fortnite.
The unannounced project is described as an Arc Raiders-style game where Disney characters fight through enemy-filled runs and try to reach an extraction point.
Extraction game part of bigger partnership
The reported release is part of the wider Epic-Disney partnership announced in 2024, when Disney took a $1.5 billion stake in Epic and pitched a long-term universe spanning games, entertainment, and user-created experiences.
That deal was always broader than a single Fortnite tie-in. Disney previously pointed to franchises including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar.
- The new shooter is reportedly targeting a release before year-end.
- At least two more games are said to be in development under the Disney collaboration.
- A separate project has reportedly received mixed early internal feedback.
Originality questions hang over it
The biggest concern inside Epic, according to the report, is differentiation. Some internal reviewers reportedly feel the extraction mechanics are too familiar to stand out.
Even so, there is also said to be optimism internally that Epic can tighten the game before launch. The extraction shooter market is getting crowded, and Disney characters alone may not be enough to make the game stand out.
