Lana Del Rey Revealed as 007: First Light Theme Singer

Lana Del Rey joins Bond

IO Interactive has confirmed that Lana Del Rey performs the main title theme for 007: First Light, ending months of fan speculation around the song "First Light".

The track is now live on Del Rey's YouTube channel, and its lyrics lean hard into classic Bond drama while nodding to the fact this is a game. One line teases Bond's fate with, "whether you'll play your life like a game."

Fan theory turned real

Suspicion had been building since late last year, when Del Rey registered a song called "First Light" with ASCAP under her real name, Elizabeth Grant.

That clue sent Bond fans digging, and they were right. The final reveal also gives Del Rey a long-awaited Bond moment after her song "24" was once rumored for Spectre before Sam Smith's theme got the pick.

David Arnold shapes the score

David Arnold, who scored five Bond films from Tomorrow Never Dies through Quantum of Solace, is handling the music for the game.

That gives First Light a direct link to the modern Bond film era as IO tries to launch a new game trilogy around a younger version of 007.

Leaks keep hitting First Light

The game's rollout has been messy. 007: First Light has faced several leaks in recent months, including an apparent ending reveal that surfaced after a mistake by Indonesia's ratings board.

IO has kept much of the story locked down, but a few details are already public:

  • Patrick Gibson plays a younger James Bond.
  • Gemma Chan, Lennie James, and Lenny Kravitz are in the cast.
  • Kravitz plays villain Bawma.

Launch date is close

007: First Light arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 27. A Switch 2 version is planned for later this summer.
