Masters of Albion sets April 2026 early access launch
Peter Molyneux's new god game reaches Steam Early Access on April 22, 2026. Masters of Albion will launch at $24.99 with a discount and bonus paint pack.
Old-school Molyneux comeback
Masters of Albion hits Steam Early Access on April 22, 2026, giving Peter Molyneux’s latest god game its first public test after nearly two years of buildup.
The game costs $24.99, with a 10% launch discount. Players who jump in during the first week also get a Founders Paint Pack with exclusive in-game colors.
Build by day, defend by night
22cans is pitching the game as a modern mashup of Molyneux’s best-known ideas from Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, and Fable.
The gameplay is straightforward:
- Build and customize a town
- Manage its growth and follow the story
- Fight off nighttime creature attacks in real-time
- Use powers and defenses to keep the town alive until morning
That setup is classic for the god-game genre, but with more action layered into the defense side.
Lionhead veterans all over it
The project also pulls together several familiar names from Molyneux’s earlier era. The team includes Russell Shaw, Mark Healey, Kareem Ettouney, and writer Iain Wright.
That gives the game a clear Lionhead lineage, which is part of the appeal for players who still remember that style of British fantasy sim design.
Molyneux baggage still follows
The release also revives a familiar question: can Molyneux finally match the promises made? When the game was announced in 2024, he openly acknowledged his history of overselling projects.
Now the focus shifts from trailers and ambition to how much of that vision actually survives contact with Early Access. The Steam page is live here.
