Street Fighter trailer embraces chaos and Ken steals focus
Paramount’s first Street Fighter trailer goes big on camp, arcade callbacks, and a stacked cast. Ken stands out as the movie sets up its 2026 release.
Trailer leans hard into camp
Paramount has released the first trailer for its Street Fighter movie, and it looks like the film is going all in on the series' weird, colorful, over-the-top side instead of toning it down.
Set in 1993, Ryu and Ken Masters are pulled back into the fight by Chun-Li for the next World Warrior Tournament, only to get tangled in a bigger conspiracy.
Ken steals the spotlight
Noah Centineo's Ken comes off as the trailer's main focus, with big fight scenes, plenty of attitude, and a bonus-round moment where he wrecks a sedan straight out of the games.
The trailer also packs in game-faithful touches, including:
- Dhalsim's impossible limb attacks
- MTV-era 1990s styling throughout
- A heavy dose of easter eggs from Street Fighter II
- 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up" on the soundtrack
Huge roster makes the cut
The cast pulls in a big chunk of the Street Fighter II lineup, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and 50 Cent as Balrog.
Also appearing are Joe Anoa'i as Akuma, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.
Big test for Paramount and Legendary
The movie is directed by Kitao Sakurai and is set to hit theaters on Oct. 16, 2026. It is the first release in Paramount's three-year distribution deal with Legendary.
