Xbox Teases New Discord Deal as Fans Expect Nitro Perk
Microsoft says Xbox and Discord are teaming up again, and fans think a Nitro perk could be coming to Game Pass Ultimate.
Discord tie-up hints at new perk
Xbox says it is working on a new collaboration with Discord as it tries to make Game Pass more flexible, and players are already guessing that Discord Nitro could be part of the plan.
In a post on X, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said the two companies will partner again and teased that some users may “start to see some code in the wild,” with more details coming soon. The post points to another Game Pass perk or bundle rather than a standalone feature update.
For years, Xbox and @discord have worked together to make it easier for players to connect, chat, and play across devices. We're teaming up again as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for our players. Some of you might start to see some code in the wild, and we will…

Bundling looks like the direction
Xbox is reportedly exploring a broader shake-up for Game Pass pricing and tiers.
- A rumored “pick your own plan” model is under consideration.
- An internal Triton tier could focus on first-party games only.
- Another reported option, Duet, could bundle Game Pass with Netflix.
If that roadmap holds, a Discord deal would fit neatly into the same strategy. The most obvious guess is a Nitro bundle with Game Pass Ultimate, though that part is still unconfirmed.
Discord already has an Xbox role
This would not be the first crossover between the two companies. Their previous work together brought Discord voice features and the ability to view Discord streams on Xbox consoles.
That makes this latest teaser feel less like a random promo and more like another step in turning Game Pass into a wider subscription package with extra services attached.
What remains unclear
So far we don't know anything about the actual details of this partnership with Discord from Microsoft, such as when it launches, or if it's linked to any particular subscription level of Game Pass.
While the partnership is confirmed, there are still many questions surrounding the Nitro tie-in. What is evident though is that Microsoft continues to try and think outside the box on how to make Game Pass more attractive.
